# Ask ChatGPT why production broke.

The Polylane plugin answers from your logs, traces and deploys.

Add Polylane to ChatGPT: https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6ac61a041754819182e283190edc845f

Sign in with your Polylane account, pick a workspace, and ask.

## Your whole stack, in ChatGPT.

Connect your clouds, observability, code and chat to Polylane once. The plugin gives ChatGPT a tool for each job, named for what you want, and ChatGPT picks the right one for the question.

## Skills and views.

The plugin ships a skill that walks ChatGPT through an investigation in the right order. Results come back as views in the chat: issue cards, log lines, dependency graphs and every resource in the workspace. Select anything in a view to ask about it next.

1. `listIssues`: is an issue already open?
2. `getAuditLog`: what changed first
3. `queryLogs`: what the service logged
4. `getBlastRadius`: what else it reaches
5. `listCommits`: the code that shipped

## Ask it anything about production.

- **What changed before checkout broke?** Deploys, config and IAM edits on the account, with when they landed and what they touched.
- **If payments-worker goes down, what goes with it?** The context graph shows what depends on it and how far a failure reaches, drawn in the chat.
- **Which open issue should I fix first?** Polylane's open issues with their severity, and the investigation behind each one.
- **Who owns orders-db, and which repo deploys it?** The owner and the repository come from the context graph, with a link to the record in Polylane.

## Questions

**What does ChatGPT need to use Polylane?**

A Polylane account with at least one cloud account or observability tool connected. The plugin reads what that workspace already knows. It collects nothing new on its own.

**How is the plugin different from the Polylane MCP server?**

The plugin includes an MCP server, plus a skill that teaches ChatGPT how to investigate and views that draw issue cards, logs and graphs in the chat. Coding agents use the code-mode server instead, which chains many calls in one program.

**Can ChatGPT change my infrastructure through Polylane?**

Only if you grant read-write access when you sign in. Even then, ChatGPT asks you to confirm each change, and Polylane screens every write before it runs.

**Does the plugin work in Codex?**

Yes. The same plugin installs in Codex, with the same tools and skills.
